- Preparing exercise room prior to the start of each class,
- Observing and teaching proper body mechanics,
- Encouraging participants to enhance their knowledge of exercise, body alignment, and exercise safety,
- Recording participant attendance at each class,
- Overseeing class at all times to ensure a safe environment for all,
- Providing substitution as needed for other instructors as needed
- Other duties as needed within the position’s scope Basic Qualifications * Current, active Secret (or higher) security clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Exercise Science with an accompanying 3+ years of practical experience, or a High School Diploma (or GED) with an accompanying 10+ years of practical experience.
- Active certification from one of the following:
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Council on Exercise (ACE) National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), or another equivalent Group Fitness certification from a nationally-recognized credentialing authority.
- Active certification to teach specialty group exercise classes in one or more of the following disciplines: Spin, Yoga, Zumba, Group Strength, Pilates, Barre, and/or other popular mainstream fitness classes.
- Active Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification. Preferred Qualifications * Active TS/SCI security clearance.
